Inonge is new PF vice-president

WINA

JERRY MUNTHALI, Lusaka
PRESIDENT Lungu has appointed Vice-President Inonge Wina as Patriotic Front (PF) vice-president.
The President has also appointed Minister of Justice Ngosa Simbyakula as PF national chairperson.
Until their appointments, Mrs Wina was the national chairperson of the party whilst Dr Simbyakula was the chairperson for legal and disciplinary committee.
The appointments are pursuant to the powers vested in the PF president under Article 61 of the party constitution.
This is according to a statement issued yesterday by special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda.
Mr Chanda said President Lungu wants a clear line of command and authority in party and Government as he readies the party and country for the 2016 general elections.
He said President Lungu is, therefore, confident that the two appointees will effectively work with PF secretary-general Davies Chama to mobilise the party at all levels.
“These appointments will help a great deal in the syncronisation of the party and Government activities and eliminate as many areas of conflict of authority as possible by making it clear that the State and party vice-president will deputise me smoothly unless there are compelling reasons why she cannot,” the President said.
Meanwhile, the President has appointed Commissioner of Lands Barnaby Mulenga as Ministry of Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection permanent secretary.
Mr Mulenga will be sworn in today.
