THE hardship memories farmers went through (not to remember the infamous armyworms) recede in the distance when they have to sell their
maize and enjoy their money.
Is it true that good rains that soaked neighbouring countries broadsided our farmers? No.
The government must increase the purchase price to K100 to offset farmers’ loss on inputs. Of course we must acknowledge that this isn’t easy.
The government is battling expenditures and loan pay-offs; it needs more income!
It’s a rugged terrain for us all but farmers’ maize should not be a collateral damage on Government’s war on poverty.
When exports start on the maize, everything will be falling into place and Government will be the major exporter.
So let’s do and help our farmers, shall we?
