HH disturbed by PF in-fighting

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema says he is disturbed by in-fighting in the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).
Mr Hichilema said the in-fighting in the PF including calls for the resignation of acting President Guy Scott are a threat to the country’s peace.
He said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that Dr Scott has expressed his commitment to delivering a fair presidential election and called on him to do everything possible to ensure that this happens.
Mr Hichilema said that if elected republican president, he will address all the challenges affecting Zambians.
“As President of the UPND and on behalf of all its members, let me assure each and every law-abiding member of the PF that they will find a welcome home in the UPND,” Mr Hichilema said.
He said the UPND is the only party which is on the ground, with a clear campaign message and a vision for the development of the country.
And Mr Hichilema says it is not true that if elected president of Zambia he will fire some civil servants as alleged by some political parties.
Addressing a public rally in Kafue on Wednesday, Mr Hichilema said he is not ‘an animal’ to fire people from the civil service when his job also entails creation of more jobs for the people.
“I am not coming in government to fire people from their jobs but to fight poverty and reduce the cost of living,” he said.
Mr Hichilema also said he has special interest at heart of improving the welfare of the officers in police service.
He also said he would maintain and empower marketeers throughout the country with soft loans.
