HH arrest lawful – Kalaluka

JUSTINAH KAPAMBWE, Lusaka
THE decision by police to arrest United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema for treason in 2017 was lawful and without malice, Attorney General Likando Kalaluka has told the court.
This is in a case Mr Hichilema and five others have sued the State for malicious prosecution, unlawful detention, false imprisonment and torture following their arrest for treason in April 2017.
The opposition leader and the others attempted to overtake President Edgar Lungu’s motorcade on April 8, 2017 on the Mongu-Limulunga road in Western Province.
President Lungu was heading to the Litunga’s palace in Limulunga for the Kuomboka traditional ceremony of the Lozi.
In a writ of summons and statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court on May 7 this year, Mr Hichilema and five others sought compensation for the pain and suffering allegedly inflicted on them by the CLICK TO READ MORE
