Gwembe district hit by food shortage

CATHERINE MUMBA, Choma
DESPITE Southern Province recording a bumper harvest this year, some areas in Gwembe district have been hit by a food shortage resulting from floods which washed crops away in February.
Southern Province is expected to produce 470,785 metric tonnes of maize this year.
Gwembe District Commissioner Justus Phiri said in an interview yesterday that the affected areas are Henga, Chamwe and Gondo.
