Guide members on Presidential poll, Shamenda tells unions

CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone
MINISTER of Labour and Social Security Fackson Shamenda has called on trade unions in the country to guide their members on which party president they should place their vote in the forthcoming presidential election.
Mr Shamenda said there is need for the union leaders to give direction to their members on who is the best candidate to govern the country.
He was speaking in Livingstone during the seventh The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO-Norway) co-operating partners conference under the theme: `The African trade union movement growth through organising service delivery and promoting rights at work’.
Mr Shamenda said people should be guided to choose leaders that will help to stabilise the country.
He noted that Zambia has registered rapid economic growth evidenced by implementation of massive projects.
He said the trade unions are the centre of everything in the country.
And Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) Secretary General Roy Mwaba said Patriotic Front (PF) and the MMD leaders should resolve their internal wrangles.
