Great East Road a marvel

Dear editor,
ALLOW me to express gratitude to your newspaper for making the public understand the extent of infrastructure development the Patriotic Front (PF) government has either completed or embarked on in the last four years or so.
Of particular interest is the Great East Road, which has been upgraded from a patched up and potholed road into one of the best roads in Zambia.
I had driven on this road early last year and I must admit it was hell! But 12 months on, the road had changed, particularly between Luangwa Bridge and Chipata.
The contractors have done a commendable job, widening and resurfacing the road, unlike some briefcase contractors who used to work on the road without completing the works.
Road markings between Nyimba and Petauke gives you an impression you’re driving on one of those roads in developed countries.
Driving to Chipata is no longer a nightmare it used to be a few years back. Government should really be commended for working on most of the highways in the country because the economic value is immense.
