Government urged to release funds for Chavuma police

CHAVUMA district commissioner Benjamin Mufunga has appealed to Government to release money to complete construction of a police station in the district.

Mr Mufunga said in an interview that the completion of the K1.3 million worth project has taken long to complete because of poor workmanship by the contractor engaged.
“We are disappointed as district administration with the contractor because this project was started way back in 2012 but up to now it is not complete,” he said.
He said the works supervisors who inspected the project recently were not satisfied with the quality of works and directed the contractor to re-do some works.
Mr Mufunga said the police station is important to people in Chavuma as it will improve security in the district which shares a vast boarder with Angola.
He warned contractors carrying out various public infrastructure works in the district against shoddy works.
“We expect the contractors to deliver to the expectations of Government,” he said.
Mr Mufunga said Government is in a hurry to deliver development to all parts of the country.
