Ghana coach nods She-polopolo quality

THE Ghana women’s team yesterday arrived in the country with nine foreign-based players with coach Eddie Williams saying they chose to face Zambia in an international friendly over South Africa because of the unique game that the She-polopolo possess.
The teams are preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations getting underway on November 17 in Ghana.
Ghana are in Group A alongside Algeria, Cameroon and Mali while Zambia will tackle Kenya, South Africa and defending champions Nigeria in Group B.
“Ghana and Zambia are friends in terms of football. So the moment we sent our request to the FA [Football Association of Zambia] that we needed a team to play a friendly with, we preferred Zambia than South Africa,” Williams said in an interview on arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka yesterday.
