GDP on increase – CSO

LUSAKA Zambia.

ZAMBIA’S gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 3.9 percent in the first three quarters of this year compared to 3.6 percent in the same period last year supported by the financial and insurance activities industry.
Latest data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO) shows that the growth in the economy in value terms was over K200.9 billion compared to about K173.5 billion during the same period in 2017.
“In terms of growth contribution, the financial and insurance activities contributed the highest at 1.1 percent. This was followed by the information and communication industry at 0.9 percentage point and the mining and quarrying industry at 0.8 percentage point.
