First Lady treated to laughter dinner
KONKOLA Copper Mine (KCM) on Monday night prepared some ‘laughter’ salads for First Lady Esther Lungu during dinner which was hosted in her honour by the mining company.
Mrs Lungu was in Chingola to tour KCM projects being supported through the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme awards the needy communities.
The projects visited included the livelihood sustainability resource centre for the cattle pass-on projects, where 596 animals have been distributed in Chingola, Chililabombwe and Nampundwe districts.
She also unveiled a US$2 million project to house a warehouse for farm produce collection centre to be constructed by Nabona group, a Chingola-based firm involved in farming activities.
KCM has leased a 22 hectares land to Nabona for the establishment of the project expected to create over 500 jobs upon completion.
The dinner, which was hosted in honour of the First Lady by the Vedanta subsidiary, was held at the Directors Lodge, where Mufulira-based comedians Peter Muvumbi and Kelvin Kaweme were the toast of the night.
From handling jackhammers to holding mics, the two miners-cum-comedians were marvellous combination as they cracked jokes much to the amusement of the First Lady.
