A GERMAN mining power solutions company, Cronimet, has mobilised about US$1 billion to invest in solar power in Zambia and other African countries.
From this amount, €100 million will be spent on solar-generated power in Zambia only.
Cronimet managing director Rollie Armstrong said once a power purchase agreement is signed with Zesco Limited and Government, Cronimet will develop both grid and off grid connected solar panels.
Mr Armstrong said the company counts President Edgar Lungu among Africa’s visionary leaders hence its decision to invest over €100 million in solar generated power.
He said this when he paid a courtesy call on Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany Anthony Mukwita in Berlin
