The event was graced by Ministry of Commerce Permanent Secretary Kayula Siame.
Fay Designs proprietor Faith Kabende wants to create a unique corporate design embedded with company or institutional logos.
“We saw the uniforms done for the Zambia Revenue Authority, and we thought we can do a far much better job. We are now able to do uniforms for institutions such as Zambia National Service, and many others, what we need is support because we will be creating jobs,” she says.
Fay Designs also have the capacity to tailor clothing for people who have contracts to supply to chain stores such as Pep Stores.
To carry out this huge task, Mrs Kabende is training tailors at her training school.
“We want to identify the tailor’s strengths so we are training them and entering into two to five year contracts with them so that there is stability. We are signing contracts because most tailors are not stable, so we want to ensure that they are with us longer,” she says.
Mrs Kabende thinks local designers need to engage specialised tailors. http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
