Ex-mayor jailed over fake plots deals

FORMER Kitwe mayor Kelvin Sinyangwe has been convicted of two counts of obtaining over K100,000 by false pretences and has been sentenced to a combined nine months imprisonment with hard labour.In the first count of obtaining K11,000 by false pretences, Sinyangwe has been sentenced to three months imprisonment, while in count two of obtaining K105,000, he has been jailed for six months.
However, Kitwe magistrate Kampinda Chipamu suspended the sentences on both counts for 12 months on condition that the convict does not commit a similar offence.
