ESTHER Mutelu’s push to release a debut studio album has finally paid off at last with her project being ready on the market for sampling. After a seven-year-search for a breakthrough, she has now dropped a 10-track gospel album titled ‘You Reign’.
Some of the songs on the album are; Mucheni Chenu, Ntumeni, Uluse Lwenu, Mwandanga Uluse, Yahweh, Faith Servant, You Are Worthy and the title track You Reign. The songs are mostly worship.
“I like to usher people in the presence of the Lord, which is why most of the songs on my album are worship songs,” she said.
Esther will be staging a concert this August at Ambassador Royal Assemblies House, Ndola branch where she congregates in Kabushi. She hopes to use the concert as a fundraiser for the launch of her album in February next year.
Born 25 years ago in Solwezi, Esther is a journalist currently employed by Chimwemwe FM Radio in Ndola.
She started school at Buntungwa Primary School in Solwezi and completed her secondary education at Masala High School in Ndola. She later pursued her tertiary education at Copperbelt International College (COBIC) were she studied journalism.
In 2011, she had recorded a full album which, unfortunately got damaged and funds to produce it were later misappropriated by the then producer in Solwezi.
This frustrated her and made her go quiet for some years. Just about the same period from 2011 and 2015, she was attacked by criminals. She lost her sight and speech. Fortunately, her senses.
When all things fell in place in 2016, Esther embarked on a mission to conquer her previous challenges by working on an album, though featuring a few songs from the lost album.
The title track, You Reign, is the only song which has been shot on video. The video can be viewed on her Facebook account.
