El Mukuka signs with Universal Music

EL MUKUKA, a pioneer of melodic house music in the country, has signed with international record label Universal Music, one of the biggest dance music labels in Africa and a division of one of the three global record labels.

His recent single “Something’s Coming”, a collaboration with Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Kayla Jacobs was released last Friday on Universal Music South Africa. The song is a follow up to their last collaboration “Bottle of Loneliness”, which continues to top music charts in Europe.
Universal Music South Africa is part of the Universal Music Group, the world’s leading music company with wholly owned record operations or licensees in 75 countries.
PR Girl Media representative Chishimba Nyambe confirmed that El Mukuka has signed with Universal Music in a statement to the Weekend Mail in Lusaka.
“Mukuka’s recent brand partnership with Heineken has accelerated the growth of the house music scene in Zambia and helped to expose Zambian house music to the world. His recently launched music tour ‘Something’s Coming’ kicked off last week with a performance in the Tanzanian tropical island of Zanzibar,” the statement reads.
Based in both Zambia and Germany, the 24-year-old Zambian-Greek disc jockey and producer has played at some of the biggest festivals in sub-Saharan Africa such as the Vic Falls Carnival, R&G Oktoberfest, Barefeet Music Festival, Siavonga Music Festival and the Zanzibar B&W Festival while also playing alongside some of the top players in the region such as Goldfish, Goodluck, Joe Mfalme and Professor.
His single “Bottle of Loneliness” was released on premier Spanish dance label Blanco y Negro. Upon scoring peak positions in both the Spanish and Argentinian Spotify viral charts, the song caught the attention of the European smash hit DJ duo Filatov and Karas who released the official remix in January.
El Mukuka, regarded among the country’s leading disc jockey’s, studied music in the United States. His music can be described as uplifting, and is infused with African elements that are rich in melody, harmony and groovy.
He is hoping on having an exciting year with lots of powerful releases, international shows and innovative brand partnership concepts.
