FOUR Nsenga chiefs yesterday told the Commission of Inquiry into Voting Patterns and Electoral Violence that the people of Eastern Province voted for President Lungu not because of his tribal origin but because of his progressive ideas.

Speaking during the commission’s public sittings at Petauke District Council yesterday, Chief Sandwe said the Patriotic Front (PF) sold President Lungu well by clearly stating what the party stands for.
“We do not support tribal voting here, and that is why people voted for late President Levy Mwanawasa despite him being Lenje,” Chief Sandwe said. “What matters is how a political party markets itself, and humility is also key.”
