Dual citizenship retained

STEVEN MVULA,Lusaka
THE Dual Citizenship clause has been retained in the final draft constitution.
Article 18 of part four (4) of the final draft constitution states: “A citizen shall not lose citizenship by acquiring the citizenship of another country.”
And the clause on mixed member representation electoral system in Parliament has also been retained in the final draft constitution.
Article 74 (2) of part six of the final draft constitution states: “Elections to the National Assembly shall be conducted under a mixed member representation electoral system, consisting of a first-past-the-post system and party list system.”
Under this proposed statute, there will be 250 members of Parliament (MPs).
Of these, 150 will be elected members from the constituencies and 100 will be elected through a party list submitted to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) by participating political parties.
