DMK’s Mark mourned

MARK Kabalu.

GOSPEL artist Mark Kabalu, 35, of the group DMK, passed away on Wednesday at Roan General Hospital in Luanshya after a short sickness.The Ndola-based outfit is a three-member group with the other members being Davies Ingwe and Kelvins Mwaba.
Kelvins, who confirmed the death to the Weekend Mail in Ndola, said Mark had complained of fever on the same day he died.
‘’I accompanied him to Roan General Hospital after he caught a slight fever about 11:00 hours on Wednesday. It suddenly got worse by 14:00 hours before eventually succumbing to death,’’ he said.
Mark is survived by a wife Mwaka and two children, Nathaniel and Mark Junior. The funeral is being held at 55 Chikola Road in Itawa, Ndola and burial is expected to take place today at Mitengo Cemetery.
The initials DMK were derived from the trio’s first names. The group has five albums; “Mwentendekelo (2004)”, “Shimwitwa Pakakala (2009)”, “Favour and Worry Not” and the two-week old “Abana Bamfumu”.
A bout a month ago, DMK performed before a highly attended thanksgiving rally for Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo at Kaloko grounds in his constituency. They shared the stage with many artistes among them Ephraim, Chester, Kasaka, Bwana Njombe and Chef.
Another notable recent performance was at a crusade at Mikomfwa Grounds in Luanshya a fortnight ago.
By Tuesday, DMK had arranged with the Workers, Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) to perform at the Vision Zero Campaign at Moba Hotel yesterday.
“We don’t know how to carry on without Mark, only God’s strength will pull us through,” Kelvins said.
