‘Dismiss HH, GBM application’

THE State has asked the Constitutional Court to dismiss an application by United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema to hear an appeal in which he has challenged the inauguration of President Edgar Lungu.
In this case, Mr Hichilema and his vice-president Geoffrey Mwamba wanted the court to stop the swearing-in of President Lungu and Vice-President Inonge Wina after the 2016 elections.
This followed the dismissal of the presidential election petition in the Constitutional Court for lack of jurisdiction.
