CHAMPIONS Diggers and Nkwazi on Saturday cruised to the Zambia Rugby Union Knock Out Cup final after overcoming Green Buffaloes and Green Eagles respectively.
The final is slated for Green Eagles Rugby Club in Kabwe on Saturday.
DIGGERS 14 BUFFALOES 5
‘Men at Work’ Diggers demonstrated their intentions of retaining the title they won in 2013 with an impressive display against the Soldiers in a thrilling match at Ndola Wanderers Ground.
Billy Maipampe contributed a try and Brian Mbalwa scored a penalty before Larry Kaushiku placed a try for the Lusaka outfit.
The Kitwe outfit led 8-5 at half-time.
In the second stanza, Mbalwa added a drop goal and Dean Zulu converted a penalty to secure Diggers’ passage to the final.
NKWAZI 16 EAGLES 3
In a late match at the same venue, Eagles continued with their dominance over Eagles, whom they beat 14-0 during the Heroes and Unity Sevens final last month.
But this time Nkwazi had to come from behind to stamp authority.
Tedius Chipoya gave Eagles a false start through a penalty but the Policemen responded with Laston Mukosa’s hat trick of penalties.
William Mukuka scored a try, which Mukosa converted.
