Defiler jailed 20 years

KALUNGA MUSONDA, Kabwe
THE Kabwe High Court has sentenced a 40-year-old farmer of Kapiri Mposhi to 60 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling three girls.
Kabwe High Court Judge Elita Mwikisa sentenced Moses Muwowo to 20 years on each of the three counts.
The sentences will be served concurrently.
The court heard that on September 21 last year, Muwowo unlawfully had carnal knowledge of three girls are under the age of 16.
“A man of your age, you decided to catch innocent children and destroy their future,” Justice Mwikisa said.
“You could not find women of your age whom you could have found pleasure in. These children have a whole life ahead of them but look at what you did,” she said.
Justice Mwikisa told Muwowo the offence he committed is very serious and urged him to reflect on his actions during the time he will be in jail.
And before the same court, John Sikapundwe, 39, of Serenje was jailed for 20 years for defiling a 10-year-old girl.
On unknown dates but in January last year, Sikapundwe defiled the girl.
“Men like you are the ones that are scared of approaching women of your age and you end up catching children. But what you do not know is that you are destroying their future which is very cruel,” Justice Mwikisa said.
