Death of 3 minors at manganese mine indicator of poverty levels

Dear editor
NEWS of three children who were killed at a manganese mine in Luapula Province last weekend was very sad.
In as much as child labour should be condemned all the time, sadly it is because of the levels of poverty that are prevailing throughout the country, especially in rural areas.
Children have not been allowed to enjoy their childhood because they are trying to survive.
For as long as the challenges of poverty are not eliminated, we are bound to have more cases where children are either injured or killed in circumstances as above.
