CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone
A TAXI driver of Kazungula has been committed to the High Court for sentencing after being found guilty of repeatedly defiling his 13-year-old stepdaughter while his wife was in labour at Livingstone Central Hospital.
This is in a case in which Frank Hanankange, 28, is charged with defilement contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on unknown dates, but between September 26 and 28 last year in Kazungula, while his wife was in labour at Livingstone Central Hospital, Hanankange had carnal knowledge of the minor in his matrimonial bed in Kazungula.
Delivering judgment on Wednesday, magistrate Michael Mulalelo said the prosecution had proved its case against Hanankange beyond reasonable doubt and convicted him accordingly.
“I am satisfied that the prosecution has proved its case against Hanankange through the witnesses it has brought before this court. I, therefore, find him guilty as charged,” magistrate Mulalelo said.
