‘Court order was served on Chitika’

CHOMBA MUSIKA, Lusaka
A COURT order preventing the New Hope MMD from holding an extraordinary convention on March 20 this year was served on its national secretary, Elizabeth Chitika, but she allegedly ran away and left the document. Operation Save MMD member Geoffrey Mulenga has submitted in the Lusaka High Court that after Ms Chitika allegedly fled, the ex parte (one-sided) order of injunction preventing the holding of the convention was served on New Hope MMD vice-president Reuben Sambo, who read it.
This is in a case 20 Operation Save MMD members obtained an ex parte order to start contempt of court proceedings against New Hope MMD president Nevers Mumba and other members. This was after Dr Mumba and others went ahead to hold the March 20 extraordinary party convention despite being served with an injunction.
The alleged contemnors in the matter are Ms Chitika, Dr Mumba, Mr Sambo and three other New Hope MMD members.
