Cotton portal to boost trade

THE World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) have launched a cotton portal that will enable producers, traders and policy-makers to better harness market opportunities in the sector.

The cotton portal, unveiled at the 11th WTO ministerial conference on Monday, will provide improved transparency and accessibility of trade-related information for cotton products and other relevant information for the daily activities of cotton producers, traders and policy-makers.

WTO director general Roberto Azevêdo said the portal will help the cotton community achieve their development goals.
“Today’s launch is an important addition to our efforts of helping the cotton community achieve their development goals. This new, dedicated cotton portal provides a single online entry point for all the cotton-specific information available in WTO and ITC databases,” he said.
