Construction of Kisanjiku mini-hydro completes

CONSTRUCTION of the US$8.6 million Kisanjiku mini-hydro power station in Mwinilunga district has been completed and is expected to boost economic activities in the area.
The project being implemented in chief Mutambo and Sailunga’s chiefdom in North-Western Province will cover a catchment of over 12,000 people.
In an interview on Friday, REA corporate affairs manager Justine Mukosa said the project will provide power to a high school, a clinic, honey factory and nurse training centre.
The mini hydro power station with a capacity of 0.64 megawatts has taken three years to be completed.
The other power project being undertaken by REA is in Chunga, Kafue National park, where a solar mini grid of about 200 kilowatts is being developed.
