Congratulations to Americans

NOAH HASSAN ABBAKER
Those who may not be fully aware of  the United States of America’s  history only look at it from the angle of hatred and believe that America intervenes in the world affairs , bombing Nagasaki  and Hiroshima with the first ever nuclear weapons without any justification, invaded Iraq and pressurised countries to adopt democracy or supported rebels against the ruling governments. From the journalistic point of view, the United States must be seen from other angles. They are the ones who invented automobile in the early years of the 20th century and thus reduced the distance time from 20 -15 hours walk per day to almost 1000 kilometers per twelve hours. For example, one would walk a month from Livingstone to Lusaka but nowadays the distance is covered within six hours or so and no one would commend the Americans in this regard.
The United States of America was the first country in the world to invent aero planes and as such the distance between the United States and Africa is covered within 13 hours. African countries, for example, are connected together and a businessmen could travel from Africa to Dubai or China today and come back the following day. As regards to the technology, America comes first  and their contributions through internet and mobile inventions have revolutanilised industry and trade  and the traditional borders could not withstand the communication pressure .
As regards to medicine, the United States contributions in this regard cannot be hidden as the latest inventions are found in America. This is attributed to the attention paid by the American government towards research. America is also the only country in the world of mixed society democracy. This could be seen through the election of the proud son of an Africa origin, former United States of America President Barak Obama who ruled America for consecutive eight years. Such a political tolerance was seen in Zambia when the Zambian people accepted Dr Guy Scott to rule the country as acting President from October 2015 to January 2016.
The United States of America assisted many African countries to develop their economies and political maturity. Many African countries military personnel nowadays think twice before they plan a coup as they know that America could not tolerate such power ambitions. America, silently managed to dismantle the Soviet Union socialism through powerful campaigns for capitalism and freedom of expression. As a result, almost all African countries moved away from socialism system to the multi-party system and in this regard Zambia moved away from the socialist system in 1991 to the multi party democracy.
Almost all African countries follows the United States of America democratic system and adopt maximum two- term system and also accept freedom of expression. The United States of America plays a vital rule in the world trade. For example, the American dollar is quoted against the local currencies due to the influence of America in the world trade.
The Trump era
Though the some American opinion and that of the world opinion differ in the election of Mr Donald Trump, such fear and suspicion could change the reality as democracy is all about winner and loser. Trump, though some people think controversial, they do not put into consideration that America is a country  ruled  by institutes and not individuals. The President may say something but the Congress, the CIA and the president advisors influence the destiny of the decisions. It is not easy, unlike many third world countries, to pass a decree by the president without being thoroughly analyzed and researched for. Mr Trump,s policy would not be much different than that of the policies of the American people but with minor  changes.

The third world countries in general and the African countries in particular need to approach Mr. Donald Trump especially in terms of economy as he is a business oriented  President.
The African countries need to approach him for the permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council which will make their voice heard in the international arena. The African countries also need to approach him in terms of trade and know-how transfer as African continent need the American technology in agriculture, education and medicine. This can only be achieved through genuine and collective approach. What America needs is peace and security, rule of law and political reforms. What Africa needs from the United States is to help them solve problems of refugees, human trafficking and partnership in development.
America shall remain a major and dominant player in the international politics and economy as they take development very serious, a matter which many African countries lack. Before we condemn America, it is better for us to at least manage our own affairs and apply justice as justice is the basis for rule. We should talk less and achieve more in order to compete with America, in terms of development, within at least hundred years from now.
