THOUGH Government is yet to enact the Freedom of Information Bill, I am impressed with the mushrooming of community radio stations in Zambia.
So far, the voice of the voiceless is being heard in our communities.
On the Copperbelt, we have United Church of Zambia-owned Radio Chimwemwe of Ndola, and the Catholics’ Radio Icengelo in Kitwe.
These two radio stations are doing a commendable job in reaching out to the communities through their programming.
On these radio stations, everyone, regardless of his or her standing in society, is given a platform to express their views on any subject without injuring the other person.
Indeed Government deserves commendation for liberalisation of the media in Zambia.
