Letter to the Editor

Community libraries should look outside the box

Dear editor,
I FEEL libraries, especially community ones like Buchi Library should diversify into other things that will act as a catalyst in promoting a reading culture.Instead of just stocking books, libraries could also stock some basic sports equipment to be accessed by different youth groups that, after reading for a while, they could also do some physical activities together.
For example, libraries could stock fishing equipment, tents, cooking pots (camping equipment), chess boards, table tennis, badminton, etc that youth groups could loan to promote different activities that would eventually turn into good social capital.
However, reading could be the thread with which all these activities could be sewed together!! Just thinking aloud!!
