College develops armyworm pesticide

THE armyworm, which is a larvae of a moth, crawls into the leafy funnel of a maize plant and eats up the middle part of the plant, making young plants stand no chance of survival.

AN AGRICULTURE training college on the Copperbelt has developed a cost-effective pesticide for the eradication of armyworms.
Ministry of Agriculture chief coordinator for agricultural training institutions Penelope Malilwe revealed this during a visit to the institution in Lufwanyama.
