Chipolopolo players fail to make CHAN best 11

STEPHEN PHIRI, Lusaka
ZAMBIA has no representation on the African Nations Championship (CHAN) best 11.
But Chipolopolo skipper Christopher Katongo has been listed on the substitutes.
The Confederation of African Football released the best 11 yesterday, hours after Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) thumped Mali 3-0 in the CHAN final in Kigali, Rwanda.
Champions DRC contributed four players.
The team comprises goalkeeper Ley Matampi (DRC), defenders Abdoul Karim Danté (Mali), Joël Kimwaki (DRC), Cheick Ibrahim Comara (Ivory Coast), Mohamed Youla (Guinea)
Midfielders are Ibrahima Sory Sankhon (Guinea), Mechack Elia (DRC), N’Guessan Serge (Ivory Coast), Hamidou Sinayoko (Mali) and the strikers are Jonathan Bolingi (DRC) and Sekou Koïta (Mali)
Katongo, a 2012 Africa Cup winner, was influential in guiding the Chipolopolo to the quarter-finals.
He scored in the 1-0 win over Uganda in a Group D match in Rubavu, Rwanda.
Zambia topped the group with seven points and went on to lose 5-4 on penalties to Guinea after a goalless draw in 120 minutes.
The substitutes are Badra Ali Sangaré (Ivory Coast), Djigui Diarra (Mali), Lomalisa Mutambala (DRC), Heritier Luvumbu (DRC), Daouda Camara (Guinea), Aka Essis (Ivory Coast), Ernest Sugira (Rwanda), Ahmed Akaïchi (Tunisia), Elvis Chisom Chikataba (Nigeria) and Christopher Katongo (Zambia).
