CHAPRO’s Africa Unite concert on today

NKOLE NKOLE, Lusaka
CHRISTIAN Arts Promotion (CHAPRO) is today hosting the ‘Africa Unite’ gospel concert at Lusaka’s Heroes National Stadium where various local and international artists are scheduled to perform.
Three African countries will be represented at the concert where Congolese gospel star Mike Kalambay and compatriot Zamar will both be performing.
Other featured international acts include award winning South African choir, Joyous Celebration as well as Sally from Kenya.
Among the local artists on the concert line-up are Matthew Ngosa, Ephraim, Kings Malembe Malembe, Suwilanji, Abundant Praise, Potipher and Abel Chungu.
“We’re in the mood of oneness as a country and we thought that as CHAPRO we should hold something to continue to promote unity among Africans,” CHAPRO media consultant Waddy Shibemba explained in an interview.
He said as much as they are celebrating unity in Zambia they would like to promote it on an African scale as well.
Quite a number of events are being honoured simultaneously through the Africa Unite gospel concert. Zambia’s recent 51st anniversary commemoration, the October 18 national prayer commemoration and the one year memorial of Zambia’s fifth President, Michael Sata are the major events in whose honour the concert is being held.
Mr Shibemba urged Zambians to turn out in their numbers for the concert today and also feel free to don colours of the Zambian flag in view of the concert’s theme.
