Champions Highridge exit Coke Cup

DEFENDING Coca- Cola Schools National champions Highridge were yesterday booted out of the tournament as last year’s runners-up Chongwe progressed to the semi-finals.
Chongwe won three and drew one to garner 10 points in Group B while Eastern Province envoys Chizongwe also cruised to the semi-finals with seven points.
Highridge, Mungwi and Mitondo were eliminated after finishing third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Chongwe face Group B runners-up Solwezi Techincal in a semi-final clash tomorrow while Group B winners Kaoma take on Chizongwe in the other match.
In yesterday’s games, Chongwe ran riot thrashing Chizongwe 6 -1 in the last group match that saw Joshua Banda netting four times with Aquilla Galufu and Allan Nyawale contributing a goal each.
Mathews Gona scored Chizongwe’s consolation.
Earlier, Chizongwe beat Highridge 1-0 courtesy of a Tommy Ngoma’s goal.
Kaoma and Solwezi Technical progressed to the semi-finals after finishing first and second with eight and seven points respectively.
Kaoma battered Mpika 4-1 while Solwezi went through to the last four despite losing 4-2 to Linda.
Linda’s Thomas Banda was on fire and consolidated his campaign for the golden boot award when he scored a brace while Namakau Bulawayo and Davis Sabuni added a goal each with Prince Mumba and John Nyungila scoring for Solwezi.
Other Group B matches saw Samfya thrash Mpika 3-1 with goals coming from Chansa Mukupa, Carlos Kaoma and Kephas Ngulube while Mpika’s only goal was scored by Caleb Kapembwa.
