Central Province revels in Lungu visit

STEVEN MVULA, Lusaka
CENTRAL Province Minister Davies Chisopa says President Lungu’s visit to the region has left residents happy and eager to support his efforts to develop rural areas.
Mr Chisopa said grass-roots people are elated that the head of State took time to personally visit them to check on their welfare and development projects meant to improve their lives.
“The people in Chitambo, Luano, Serenje and Mkushi are happy that President Lungu visited and interacted with them. He demonstrated his love and humility by mingling with marketeers and ordinary villagers,” Mr Chisopa said.
He said he has been overwhelmed with words of gratitude from people in the areas President Lungu visited on his tour of duty.
“I am personally thankful for President Lungu’s visit here. His visit has given me impetus to work harder and ensure that he retains power in 2016. We are as happy as any child would be when their father visits him or her,” Mr Chisopa said.
He said the people of Central Province are now convinced that President Lungu is indeed a humble and visionary man.
And Mr Chisopa has appealed to other politicians to emulate President Lungu’s culture of promoting peace and tolerance.
He said whenever leaders of some political parties visit an area, there is violence.
“I wish to appeal to some political parties to take the path of peace President Lungu has taken. We are aware that these politicians always attract violence wherever they go,” Mr Chisopa said.
President Lungu was recently in Central Province checking on development projects and interacting with ordinary people.
