THE US$500 million cement plant expected to be set up near the Lusaka South Multi-facility Economic Zone (LS-MFEZ) will help in boosting development at the zone through provision of cement to industries under construction.
LS-MFEZ acting managing director Mukela Lubasi said in an interview on Monday that with the ongoing developments at MFEZ, it is necessary that cement plants are closer to the project to cut down on production costs.
Meanwhile, Ms Lubasi said LS-MFEZ has this year recorded US$1.3 billion worth of pledged and actualised investments.
She also said MFEZ has continued to grow and has this year recorded a total of 34 investors.
