Cancer-risk pill banned

NANCY SIAME, Lusaka
THE Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has advised patients taking ranitidine, a medicine used to treat heartburn and gastric ulcer, to immediately stop because it has an impurity which causes cancer.
ZAMRA director general Bernice Mwale has asked all health facilities and pharmaceuticals to stop administering the drug on patients.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
