Bus fare on Cheston-Ndeke route too high

DEAR editor,
I AM appealing to the Commuters Rights Association of Zambia and the Transporters Association of Zambia to look into the exorbitant fares being charged on the Chelston to Ndeke and ZASTI route.
There has been an outcry by the passengers commuting between Chelston and Ndeke Meanwood on the high fares they are subjected to.
It is definitely illogical to pay K9.50 for the distance on a road which is not even gazetted.
When the fares were increased upwards by the bus operators we immediately raised alarm through Daily Nation and Zambia Daily Mail but there has been no action taken by the bus operators.
What is more saddening is that in all this, the Commuters Rights Association of Zambia has also been mute.
What is the point of having the association if commuters are being exploited in such a manner without any intervention?
We appeal to the President of Commuters Rights Association of Zambia to engage bus operators to reduce the fares.
