BoZ stamps K6bn to clients

OVER K6.4 billion has been disbursed by Bank of Zambia (BoZ) as at June 30, 2021 under the K10 billion stimulus package.
In April last year, the central bank announced a K10 billion Targeted Medium Term Refinancing Facility to assist with liquidity to businesses and individuals during the coronavirus era.
According to the BoZ summary of applications, approvals and disbursements’ latest report, as at June 30, 2021, the central bank received a total of 51 applications out of which 20 were from commercial banks and 31 from non-banking financial institutions (NBFI).
“The total value of applications received thus far stands at about K10.47 billion. Of the 51 applications, 25 have been approved. Ten of these approved applications are from commercial banks and the rest are from NBFI,” the report reads.
