BETUZ calls for increased budget allocation to education

THE Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) on the Copperbelt has urged Government to allocate 20 percent of financial resources in the 2017 national budget to President Lungu’s aspirations of implementing new programmes in the education sector, spokesperson Kabika Kakunta has said.
Mr Kakunta said in an interview in Ndola yesterday that an increase in the allocation from 17.2 percent this year to above 20 percent will also be in line with global trends of financing the sector.
“We expect to see a significant growth in the budget allocation and government must take into account global trend of ensuring budget allocation is above 20 percent to realise effective implementation of programmes and President Lungu’s aspirations,” he said.READ MORE
