Baby killed in house fire

A ONE-YEAR-OLD boy in Kapiri Mposhi has died after being burnt when the kitchen he was left in caught fire.
The incident happened on Saturday around 15:00 hours and the boy identified as Davis Mambwe of Mangana village was left under the care of other children by its older sister Karen Chitambala who went to draw water from a nearby farm.
Central Province commissioner of police Lombe Kamukoshi said yesterday that the cause of the fire has not yet been established and police do not suspect foul play in the death of the toddler.
“The baby has been burnt beyond recognition. He was left home by his sister with other children when she went to draw water from a nearby farm, about 300 metres from her home,” she said.
Ms Kamukoshi, who regretted the death of the baby, said Chitambala, 17, informed the police that she left her brother with her siblings Patrick Banda, 5, and Mary Bweup, 8.
