B Flow records with MJ producer

CLEVER ZULU, Lusaka
DANCEHALL artiste and Young Africa Leadership Initiative (YALI) Mandela Fellowship fellow Brian Bweembya alias B Flow has recorded songs with American producer and 16-time Grammy winner Thom Russo.
Russo has teamed up with B Flow to produce songs for the Zambian star for his upcoming album as well as a soundtrack for a movie by Denmark’s Thomas Buttenschon.
Russo, the producer B Flow is working with in the United States, started his professional career as a musician, but as a college student he was interested in engineering and recording for record production. He worked first at River North Studios in Chicago, then at Larrabee Sound, one of the largest recording studios in Los Angeles, and later on his own under the Nettwerk Producer Management.
As one of the first projects at Larrabee in the early 1990s, Russo mixed vocals for Michael Jackson’s album Dangerous (1991), Bobby Brown’s album Bobby (1992), Cher’s Greatest Hits 1965-1992 (1993), Diana Ross’s Take Me Higher (1995) and Paula Abdul’s Head Over Heels (1995).
B Flow, who is attending the Washington fellowship in the US, met with Russo in Hollywood.
He is in the United States attending the YALI Washington Mandela Fellowship with other Zambian youths.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship programme of the President’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and embodies President Obama’s commitment to investing in the future of Africa.
Through this initiative, young African leaders are gaining the skills and connections they need to accelerate their own career trajectories and contribute more robustly to strengthening democratic institutions, spurring economic growth, and enhancing peace and security in Africa.
Under this programme, B Flow linked up with Russo and wrote on his social media page, “Perhaps you were wondering what I was doing in Hollywood? I was invited by Michael Jackson’s Producer, Mr Thom Russo. I am talking about a man who has won 16 Grammy Awards for producing artists like Michael Jackson, Baby Face, Jay-Z, Faith Evans and a lot more.”
The Cry of a Woman star continued, “So we have recorded a soundtrack for a great movie by Denmark’s superstar Thomas Buttenschon, directed by California’s Tyler Q Rosen. We also have two songs for my fourth album.
“Again, allow me to stress that I am not paying any money for these songs. Thom Russo is producing them for free as a gift to me because he thinks I am doing a great job back in Africa because I am using my talent for a good cause.
“I wish to say a million thanks to my good friend Tyler Q Rosen for making this possible. I met this guy through my good friend and big brother Innocent Kalaluka, so God bless Smooth IK, long live. I thought of sharing this joy with my fans and loved ones coz I feel so blessed and humbled to be here today,” he said.
