THE Chinese government has lodged a formal complaint to the Zambian government over attacks targeted at its citizens because of falsehoods being spread by people with a hidden agenda.
And President Lungu has directed the police to ensure that no foreigner is a target of any form of violence.
Most Copperbelt-based Chinese business persons have taken long vacations to their country for fear of xenophobia purveyed by political elements.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda told journalists yesterday that Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Li Jie, who was a special envoy sent by Chinese President Xi Jinping, said this when he met President Lungu last Wednesday.
