Assembly, Kitwe United qualify for Barclays Cup

NATIONAL Assembly will represent Division One Zone One in the 2017 Barclays Cup after thrashing Riflemen in a Week 15 match on Saturday.
Riflemen made a false start when Michael Bulaya scored from the spot but Assembly responded immediately through Michael Ng’ambi, Ahmed Shamenda, Tom Siame and Evans Mwanza.

Dampan Lungu scored a brace to ensure Osward Mutapa’s side remained on top with 33 points.
Assembly are level on points with Lusaka City Council (LCC), who edged third-placed Wonderful 1- 0 but the Parliamentarians have a better goal aggregate.
Assembly have scored 24 goals and conceded six while LCC have netted 21 times and allowed eight.
Kitwe United clinched qualification to the Barclays Cup despite battling to a draw with First Quantum Minerals Operations (FQMO) in a Division One Zone Two Week 15 encounter in Solwezi.
Striker Emmanuel Chabule put the Buchi Boys ahead on 46 minutes and Kelvin Phiri restored parity in the 76th minute.
Kitwe have 28 points at par with Kansanshi Dynamos but have a healthier goal aggregate.
