ZESCO United forward Idris Mbombo has joined Saudi Arabia topflight side Al-Shabab on a three-year deal.
The Democratic Republic of Congo-born forward has been an integral part of Zesco since moving from Kabwe Warriors in 2016.
Mbombo helped Zesco reach the CAF Champions league semi-finals last year scoring five goals.
He also netted 20 times for Warriors during the 2015 division campaign.
Club media and public relations officer Katebe Chengo confirmed yesterday that Mbombo has trekked to Saudi Arabia.
“The two clubs reached a conclusion on the transfer of Mbombo. The two parties agreed on an outright purchase of the player although we can’t disclose the amount involved. And the player has been given a three-year contract that goes into effect immediately.
“The transfer agreement between the two clubs was concluded yesterday [Monday] after almost two weeks of negotiations,” she said.
Chengo said Mbombo is scheduled to join his new club in Austria, where they are camped for pre-season training.
She said Zesco wished Mbombo success at his new club.
