Acting Chieftainess Kaputa urges State to build hospital in her district

ACTING Chieftainess Kaputa has asked Government to consider constructing a new hospital in the district.
The chieftainess said the current district hospital is inadequate to cater for the growing population in the area.
She said the current hospital is congested and that there is need to expand and or construct a new one.
The traditional leader said this when minister of health Joseph Kasonde called on her at the Chitandala palace.
She further challenged Government to address the critical shortage of staff in the health sector.
“Kaputa has serious shortage of staff. Government should consider deploying more medical personnel to the district,” she said.
She, however, commended Government for the strides made to improve the quality and delivery of health services across the country.
Dr Kasonde said Government has a robust infrastructure development plan, which will see the construction of more health centres across the country.
He said Government is also critically addressing the distribution of drugs to ensure that the country does not experience shortages of drugs in hospitals.
Dr Kasonde said Government is also focused to ensure that the country is rid of malaria.
The minister is in Kaputa to, among other things, access the district’s preparedness to tackle the Ebola virus.- ZANIS.
