Lungu tie, hat fetch K500,000

KELVIN CHONGO, Lusaka
A panama hat that President Lungu wore during the 2015 and 2016 election campaigns has been auctioned at K185,000 with his favourite tie sold at K320,000 during a `Meet the President Dinner’ in Lusaka.

Over K1 million was raised by the youths for the party in pledges and cash donations during the event on Saturday night.
President Lungu’s photographs depicting the Head of State signing the new Constitution and that of all the former heads of state with President Lungu were also auctioned.
Other properties of the President auctioned were paintings and an autographed book, ‘Against all Odds – President Edgar Lungu’s rough journey to State House’.
Organisations, companies and the youth all competed for the items.
