- Mayor says those who won’t return to their stands will loss them

TODAY marks the deadline for vendors to vacate undesignated trading areas and Lusaka Mayor Chitambala Mwewa says those who will not return to their stands will have their trading spaces re-allocated.
Mr Mwewa said the removal of vendors is cardinal because clean environments are essential to achieving Grow Zambia Agenda.
Speaking yesterday on Diamond Television, the city father highlighted that clearing the central business district (CBD) of street vending is necessary to maintain public health and order.
“The President himself recognises that the Grow Zambia Agenda is embedded in cleanliness and health,” Mr Mwewa said.
“You cannot grow an economy if you are not healthy.”
He added that President Hakainde Hichilema and United Party for National Development fully support the council’s cleanliness drive.
Lusaka City Council issued a seven-day ultimatum, which elapses today, directing street vendors to relocate to designated markets, including Simon Mwewa Lane Market.
So far, approximately 200 out of an estimated 8,000 vendors operating in the CDB have voluntarily moved. https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
