OCiDA stands by HH over economic gains

OUR Civic Duty Association (OCiDA) says its decision to endorse President Hakainde Hichilema is based on Zambia’s improved economic status under his rule.
OCIDA spokesperson Simwinji Simwinji said the endorsement does not, however, mean that the association has become part of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND).
Mr Simwinji said OCiDA has remained objective in its engagement with Government and honestly communicates citizens’ views on governance to the head of State.
“We don’t stand on the mountain and say this is what we are doing. We do engage the President diplomatically when we go and see him. We don’t just go there to drink tea and agree with him on everything.”
Mr Simwinji advised those contesting in the August 13 general election to anchor their messages on development.
He also urged citizens to detest violence before, during and after the elections.
Mr Simwinji is optimistic that Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) will deliver a credible election.
“I have confidence in the Electoral Commission of [Zambia]. I have confidence in the team [led] by Mwangala Zaloumis, they are up to the task.”
He also said that it is sad that former President Edgard Lungu is still not yet buried almost a year after his demise.
“If you want to be honest and confront the situation as it should be, you must realise that the government is doing everything possible to do the right thing. And the right thing is to bury him here in Zambia at the Embassy Park,” he said…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
