Spot checks confirm payments to farmers

THE nationwide checks to assess progress on payments to farmers who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) last farming season have confirmed that the
resources are indeed reaching farmers, State House has said.
Chief communications specialist Clayson Hamasaka said in a statement yesterday that officials at the Ministry of Agriculture have confirmed the release of all the funds earmarked for payments to farmers.
“Reports from the field further indicate that payments are indeed reaching farmers, although therocess has been slower in some instances due to the sheer volume of beneficiaries that the implementing institutions are required to process,” he said.
Mr Hamasaka said it is important for the nation to note and appreciate that it has a President who does not shy away from acknowledging challenges or offering apologies where delays occur.
